Few days ago, my friends and I had a gathering. We were discussing an interesting nutrition related issue. I think a lot of us might ask nutritionists or dietitians “What is the best food for us” or “What should I eat in order to become healthy”.
In conclusion, we didn’t have a definite answer. The most important are “Moderate”, “Variety” and “Balance”. General public might feel disappointed or ‘rubbish’ or better don’t answer it. However, this is the truth. There is no a food can be classified as the best food. Every type of food contributes different types of nutrients.
If you want to advice how to eat healthily, you need to understand people’s dietary habits. Everyone has different eating habits and preferences. We can’t force anyone to eat at a specific way. They might change their dietary habits but maintenance is very low. Therefore, we need to understand their dietary habits first and advice them to change from their diet.
This seems very easy; however, changing a person’s dietary habits is very difficult. As a result, the roles played by nutritionists or dietitians like psychologists. They need to guide and motivate their clients or friends constantly. There are no short cuts for them to become healthy. Although, they know the answer, they resist changing. This is because people prefer alternative ways such as taking health supplements. Please forgive me; I know I should not have this pre-judgment. However, I won’t give up influencing people to eat healthily!
